Stephen Schwartz’s masterpiece will count on some UK’s most versatile actors – all of them with major theatre credits in musicals, concerts and classics productions. You’re playing with the big boys now! Although we still have to wait for some months until Stephen Schwartz’s next grand production reaches the stage, the chance to meet the people who will star in this legendary tale has already arrived. Featuring four actors with major musical theatre credits both in London and across the UK, the West End version of The Prince of Eypt will count on much versatile artists when bringing to life this epic story about power and freedom – led by two brothers whose destinies will change the course of History forever.
Luke Brandy will be the one stepping into our hero’s shoes, Moses. Trained at RADA, Brandy is probably best known for playing the role of Anthony Hope in Jonathan Kent’s acclaimed production of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd (both at the West End and at the Chichester Festival Theatre). His other credits include Shakespeare’s classics such as The Merchant of Venice, Twelfth Night and The Taming of the Shrew (both at The Globe and on tour), as well as St George and the Dragon (National Theatre).
Liam Tamne will play the uncompromising Ramses – at first, a loving brother to Moses, but later a fierceful enemy. Among his many credits, Tamne has taken part in major West End productions such as The Phantomof the Opera, Les Misérables and Wicked. Other acting achievements include starring as Giuseppe Naccarelli in The Light in the Piazza at the South Bank Centre, as well as Working (Southwark Playhouse), Spamilton (Menier Chocolate Factory) and The Rocky Horror Show (UK Tour). Television credits also include The Voice (Series 2) and Eurovision: You Decide.
Christine Allado and Alexia Kadhime complete the main cast in the roles of Tzipporah and Miriam. Throughout her career, Allado has toured internationally with Andrea Bocelli as a guest artist, as well as playing the parts of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in the original London cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton. On the other hand, Kadhime has already starred in another Schwartz’s creation – having played the role of Elphaba twice in the West End, as well as Nala in Disney’s The Lion King, Eponine in Les Misérables and Nabulungi in The Book of Mormon.
The Prince of Egypt is directed by Scott Schwartz with choreography by Sean Cheesman. Performances will begin at London’s Dominion Theatre on Wednesday 5 February 2020, with an official West End premiere on Tuesday 25 February 2020 – for a limited 32-week run.
