‘Sleepless, A Musical Romance’ to have its world premiere in London next March

The classic romantic comedy starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan has been turned into a musical which will open at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. Directed by Morgan Young and starring West End stars Michael Xavier and Kimberley Walsh, the show will feature an entirely original score by new British writers Robert Scott and Brendan Cull

Walt Disney once said that he couldn’t imagine any of his pictures told without music. And though this may differ (although just a tiny bit) from his magical light-hearted stories, the same feeling might have been shared by the creators of the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre’s upcoming production, since a new enchanting romantic comedy musical is bound to tread its first boards over its stage – all along led by two of the West End’s most recognised faces: Michael Xavier and Kimberley Walsh.

Based on the original tale and film Sleepless in Seattle (starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan), Sleepless centres around Sam, who moves to the city with eigh year-old son after the tragic death of his wife. After being forced to talk about his sleepless nights on a radio show, he suddenly becomes one of the most wanted single men in America – apart from a great news story for feisty journalist Annie, who lives on the opposite side of the country. But maybe Sam’s son will be able to join the two together on the deck of the Empire State Building…

With a heart-warming book by Michael Burdett, the show will feature a entirely original score by new British writers Robert Scott and Brendan Cull. Directed by Morgan Young (Elf, White Christmas, Big) the cast will also include Soo Drouet as Becky, Gay Soper as Eleanor, Alex Fobbester as Rob, Dylan Turner as Walter, Vicki Davids as Suzy, Michael Carolan as Gregg, and Jobe Hart as Jonah (Sam’s son), with Charlie Bull, Charlotte Gale, Matt Holland, Joanna Rennie, Tyler Smith and Annette Yeo.

Sleepless will have its official premiere on March 21st, with three reduced price previews for Friday 13th (evening) and Saturday 14th (matinee and evening) of December. Tickets for all three performances are already available from 25 at the following link.
