Being only 13 years old, Camryn’s artistic background has already got so extense it may almost look like a lifetime achievement. Having taken part in several world-renowned musicals like Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid or Annie, her passion for music have also led her to pursue a career as solo singer and songwriter, apart from recently joining Warner’s Music new boyband Akapop! Kids. In this new interview, Guillermo Názara gets to know more about one of the most promising American performers, her beginnings and creative process, as well as her plans for the future.
How did you find you had such a passion for theatre and music?
I always loved singing , dancing and acting so my mom had me sign up for local theater classes. It took off from there .
How long did it take until that passion became your profession?
It took years and years of auditioning. Lots of hard work, disappointment, and determination.
You have taken part in several productions of world-renowned musicals such as ‘Annie’ or ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Which show has been the most challenging for you?
Annie was the most challenging because I had to memorize a lot of lines, choreography, and music.

As a young actress and singer, how difficult is it to combine your career with a ‘normal teen life’?
I have to miss out on some social events with my friends, but I love what I do and wouldn’t change it.
Which is the biggest lesson you have earned from this industry?
You have to have thick skin because you will get lots and lots of rejection. Don’t be afraid to take chances and put yourself out there.
And the best piece of advice you would give to any aspiring performer?
Take advantage of any opportunity to perform – no matter how big or small the performance is. You learn from each experience and you just keep getting better and better.
Music has been your main focus for the last 3 years.Why did you decide to take this step?
It was a hard to decision because I love theater, but I had to focus on my main passion which is song writing and recording.
One of your best-known projects is the song ‘Better Days’, which you wrote in order to help with teen suicide prevention. How did you come up with this idea and motivation?
A girl in my town took her own life and I was so heartbroken to hear this that I felt I had to do something. I just sat down at my piano and started to write. It turned into something bigger than I imagined. I just wanted to give people hope.
Now you’re currently a member of Warner Record’s group Acapop! Kids. How does it feel to be part of such renowned brand’s new band?
It feels cool to be part of a really amazing group that is branched off of Pentatonix.
Which would you say is the most exciting part of it?
The most exciting part of working with this group is being together on set. It’s when all of our hard work comes together.
Moving back to the theatre, you’ve grown up in New York, dreaming of being in the Great White Way. What is your Broadway show dream role?
My dream role would be Cady Heron in Mean Girls.
Do you have any plans of returning to the theatre any time soon after the pandemic?
I don’t know yet I’m open to all opportunities!
