‘The Prince of Egypt’ announces return to London in July

The West End stage adaptation of Dreamwork’s iconic film will resume perfomances at the Dominion Theatre, where social distancing measurements will be taken to ensure the audience’s safety. With music and lyrics by distinguished composer Stephen Schwartz, the show tells the epic story of Moses and Ramses, to great men raised as brothers, but each one facing a clashing destiny.

Many nights we prayed, with no proof the Government could hear, in our hearts a hopeful song we barely understood… The wisdom of Stephen Schwartz’s immortal (altered) lyrics has served as a foretale of this last year. And though our hope for the return of the West End shows has been tested to the very limit, it appears our plea has at last been answered with the resumption of the London production of Dreamwork’s The Prince of Egypt, which is scheduled to come back to the Dominion Theatre on Thursday July 1st.

“The sheer size of this historic venue allows for full social distancing and, as soon as all legal limits on social contact are removed, we will return to our full audience capacity at the earliest opportunity”, say DreamWorks Theatricals, Michael McCabe and Neil Laidlaw. “In re-opening, we are proud to re-unite our exceptional company and provide employment again for 149 uniquely talented individuals. We’d like to thank each and every one of them for their unwavering commitment and resilience during this difficult time for everyone in our industry. We look forward to telling this beloved story once again and experiencing the euphoric reactions that we were privileged to receive from audiences in 2020.”

With music and lyrics by Academy Award-winner Stephen Schwartz, the show tells the epic Biblical story of Moses and Ramses, two great men raised together as brothers, but suddenly divided by fate. One must rule as Pharaoh, the other must rise up and free his true people – both will change the face of History. Starring Luke Brady as Moses and Liam Tamne as Rameses, the cast includes Christine Allado (Tzipporah), Alexia Khadime (Miriam), Joe Dixon (Seti), Debbie Kurup (Tuya), Mercedesz Csampai (Yocheved), Adam Pearce (Hotep), Tanisha Spring (Nefertari) and Silas Wyatt-Barke (Aaron).
