This news is so good, you’ll almost pee your pants… As West End’s venues will be soon welcoming audiences back, one of the hottest shows of the last season is about to make its great return. After a short run at the Picadilly Theatre from February 2020 until the beginning of the first lockdown, the musical adaptation of the unforgettable 90s romantic comedy is about to tread the boards again! Pretty Woman will open by the beginning of July in a new theatre, with its original London leading actors reprising their roles.
“When we opened in the West End a year ago we had broken advance box-office records at the Piccadilly and were playing to sold out houses”, said producer Paula Wagner. “With so many ticket holders eager to see this show about love and resilience, we knew we would bring back Pretty Woman when the time was safe and right. With the move to our new home, we are able to return to share our joy with many more people. We look forward to everyone being together soon and giving our audiences the chance to come and enjoy the ultimate fun night out we all deserve right now.”
Directed and choreographed by the two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell, the show features original music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, while the book has been penned by Garry Marshall and the film’s screenwriter J.F. Lawton. The cast, on the other hand, is led by Danny Mac in the role of Edward Lewis, whose previous credits include Sunset Boulevard, White Christmas, Wicked and Legally Blonde, and Aimie Atkinson as Vivian Ward, who was nominated for an Olivier Award for her performance in the hit musical Six. Further cast includes Rachael Wooding as ‘Kit De Luca’, Bob Harms as ‘Happy Man/Mr Thompson’, Neil McDermott as ‘Philip Stuckey’ and Mark Holden as ‘James Morse’.
Pretty Woman – The Musical will begin its run on July 8th at the Savoy Theatre. Tickets are already on sale for performances until December 12th (group bookings available until June 2022) and can be purchased on the following link.
