Diana Vickers to star in stage adaptation of ‘Dial M for Murder’

Alfred Hitchock’s iconic thriller returns in this new version directed by Anthony Banks. Also starring Tony Chambers, Christopher Harper and Michael Salami, this intriguing tale centers around a manipulative husband who wants to take revenge on her wife for having an affair. Starting performances by the end of summer, the production will stop by Leicester, Liverpool and Cardiff, among other cities.

It’s often said that there’s no such thing as the perfect crime. But some offenders do get away with their devious plans – sometimes adding victims to their lists year after year, generation after generation… This autumn, the stirring thriller that has captivated millions of viewers since it’s film release, is returning in its stage version all throughout the UK. But that’s not the only piece in the puzzle, as The X Factor songtress (and now also experience actress) Diana Vickers is joining the production in one of the title roles.

Written by Frederick Knott, this intriguing bloodthirsty tale first seduced the worldwide public with Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 movie. Directed by Anthony Banks on this occasion, the story centers around Tony Wendice (played by Tom Chambers –Top Hat, Strictly Come Dancing-), a charismatic and manipulative ex-tennis pro who wants to take revenge on his wife, Margot, after finding out she’s been having an affair with another man – will he be able to carry out his Machiavellian scheme with no one suspecting?

The cast is completed by Christopher Harper (Coronation Street, Strangers on a Train), who takes the dual roles of Captain Lesgate and Inspector Hubbard, and Michael Salami (Hollyoaks) as Max Halliday, Margot’s lover. Set to open at Leicester’s Cuve Theatre, further tour venues include Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury; Playhouse Theatre, Liverpool; Churchill Theatre, Bromley; Theatre Clwyd, Mold; Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham; Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield, Milton Keynes Theatre; New Theatre, Cardiff; Palace Theatre, Southend; The Lowry, Salford before concluding its run at the Malvern Theatre in December.
