Three West End stars to play the role of Cher on the road

Producers have announced today the lead cast of this biopic musical which narrates the life of the pop icon. Featuring 35 hits such as Believe and The Shoop Shoop Song, the show is written by Tony and Olivier Award-winning Rick Elice (Jersey Boys, The Addams Family, Peter and the Starcatcher), and will go on tour until April next year.

What am I supposed to do: sit around and wait for you? Well, for some that’s a no brainer when it comes to one of the most powerful pop voices of a whole era. But it’s not just a voice that this time you’ll be waiting for – it’s the name, it’s the tribute, it’s three renowned actresses playing the icon in the same performance! The producers of The Cher Show have announced today who will be taking us through the amazing life of the American singer – this time in a touring production starting in mid April.

Debbie Kurup, Danielle Steers and Millie O’Connell will be embodying her passion and stamina to portray her at three differente stages of her path. Kurup (Prince of Egypt, The Bodyguard), will play Star, while Steers (Aladdin, Six) will be Lady and O’Connell (Rent, Six) will be Babe. All of it narrated through 35 unforgettable hits that have defined Cher’s career, including If I Could Turn Back Time, I Got You Babe, Strong Enough, The Shoop Shoop Song and Believe.

With book by Tony and Olivier Award-winning Rick Elice (Jersey BoysThe Addams FamilyPeter and the Starcatcher), the show is directed by Arlene Phillips (Saturday Night FeverStarlight ExpressGrease), with choreography by Oti Mabuse (two-time Strictly Come Dancing champion) and costume design by Gabriella Slade (SixIn The HeightsSpice World 2019 Tour). Starting at Leicester’s Curve, the production will travel across the UK and Ireland – its confirmed venues being Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre, the Manchester Opera House, Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and the Birmingham Hippodrome, among many others.

The Cher Show will begin performances on April 15th 2022 and will continue through to April 1st 2023. Tickets can be purchased on the following link.
