‘Elf, The Musical’ releases first look production pictures ahead of London opening

The production has launched its first set of pictures featuring several fully staged scenes, with a cast led by Simon Lipkin and who will be joined by Rebecca Lock for a strictly limited season. Based on the 2003 hit movie starring Will Ferrell, the show relies on a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin and a score by Tony nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin.

Treat every day like Christmas and try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup. Add it a fifth ingredient by mixing notes, rhymes and spectacle, and we’re all in business for one of the most anticipated family musicals in this year’s holidays. Currently in previews, Santa’s small (but only in height) team has been quick at delivering some of its presents this season! And that is why today, producers have launched a first set of gifts for everyone to relish on – featuring a first but thorough glimpse at the now fully stage Elf, The Musical.

Based on the 2003 New Line Cinema hit starring Will Ferrell, the show tells the funny and aventurous tale of Buddy, who as toddler mistakenly jumps into Santa’s bag and is taken by accident to the North Pole – to be raised as another elf! But being a giant in this new world (in addition to his poor skills at making toys) will only lead to the inevitable: travelling back to New York finding his true identity.

Directed by Philip Wm. McKinley, the creative credits include a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone) as well as songs by Tony nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer). The cast, on its side, will be led by Simon Lipkin as Buddy, who will be joined by Georgina Castle as Jovie, Tom Chambers as Walter Hobbs, Kim Ismay as Debs, Nicholas Pound as Santa and Dermot Canavan as Store Manager. In addition, renowned theatre actress Rebecca Lock will step into the role of Emily Hobbs a strictly limited 8-week period.

Elf, The Musical will have its official opening night on Thursday 24 November at London’s Dominion Theatre, where it will run until 7 January 2023. Tickets are available on the following link.
