Jim Steinman’s juke-box musical will return to London for a limited run amidst its European round, which is set to play in Düsseldorf from tomorrow until early next month. Featuring many of the iconic songwriter’s rock hits, the show is a post-apocalyptic tale on the fight between good and evil.
The sirens are screaming, and the fires are howling way down in the valley tonight. Because Jim Steinman’s post-apocalyptic creation is spreading its wings all around Europe. No, this is no freak show, at least not in the traditional use of the word… It’s the international tour of the musical that pays homage to many of the great tunes penned by the one of the most memorable songwriters in rock history – often nicknamed as the Richard Wagner of heavy metal. For all the hardcore fans (whatever the meaning you want to give it), today’s a day of rejoice, because producers have just launched the new onset pictures, featuring a troupe heading to London’s West End in no time!
Directed by Jay Scheib and also with book and lyrics by Steinman (to whom this version is dedicated as well as Meat Loaf after their deaths), this epic spectacle about the fight of good and evil encompasses almost all of Steinma’s best-known songs, such as You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth, Bat Out of Hell, Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad apart from the mega hit I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That). First performed at Manchester Opera House, London Coliseum and London’s Dominion Theatre from 2017 to 2019, the musical has garnered quite enough recognition, like winning Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Awards and being nominated for 8 WhatsOnStage Awards, including Best New Musical.
