The show will have its West End premiere in London in November, with two of the songs available for listening online and the whole album available for pre-order from today. Based on the best-selling novel by Audrey Niffenegger, the show tells the story of an unlikely couple, where time and order are the only things that do go with them.
“Don’t you think it’s better to be extremely happy for a short while, even if you lose it, than to be just okay for your whole life?”. Maybe that could be the case today, as the excitement keeps pouring in while one of the most charming romantic tales jumps from the page (and screen) all the way to the West End stage. Only a few weeks now for its London debut to take place, the producers of The Time Traveller’s Wife musical have announced the launch of an original cast album, which will be done in partnership with Sony Masterworks Broadway, and with two of its songs already available for listening on this link!
Based on the best-selling novel by Audrey Niffenegger and the New Line Cinema film, with screenplay by Bruce Joel Rubin, the show tells the story of Claire and Henry – a couple like no other. The former, a sculptor; the latter… a time traveller! They meet, fall in love, marry… But not necessarily in that order, as Henry will take as many chances (and warps) to fight all the obstacles that may separate them.
Directer by Bill Buckhurts, the cast is led by David Hunter (Henry), Joanna Woodward (Clare), Tim Mahendran (Gomez), Hiba Elchikhe (Charisse) and Ross Dawes (Henry’s Dad) – their album already available for pre-order, with the release date set on 29 September. Featuring an original musical score and lyrics by multi Grammy Award-winning composers Joss Stone and Dave Stewart, the production also features book by Lauren Gunderson, additional music by Nick Finlow and additional lyrics by Kait Kerrigan, design by Anna Fleischle, choreography by Shelley Maxwell, lighting design by Lucy Carter and Rory Beaton, and illusions by Chris Fisher, among others.
The Time Traveller’s Wife will open at London’s Apollo Theatre on 1 November. Tickets are available on the following link.
