The production will launch front row and standing tickets every week through three different process of booking, including an online lottery. Starring and directed by Branagh, the cast features Mara Allen, Deborah Alli and Raymond Anum, among many others.
How sharper than a serpent’s tooth is to have a thankless child… Well, maybe we can put the drama aside for one minute (or less), as today’s the king’s wrath seems to be replaced for the sake of celebration. Following the sale of approximately one hundred £20 tickets, the producers of Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming montage of King Lear have announced today the planned release of additional £20 tickets via three different schemes – all of them to be purchased with no additional booking fee or charges.
14 tickets for every show, located in the front row of the Stalls, will be made available via a lottery process on a weekly basis, through an online application process opening at 00:01am on Thursdays and close at 10am on the following Wednesday – first one starting on 12 October. On the other hand, additional front row stall tickets and standing tickets will be released online at 10:30am on the morning of each performance day for any performances taking place that day. Finally, those who don’t wish to take part in the lottery will also have the chance to benefit from this offer anyway, as advanced standing tickets in the Grand Circle will be launched online each Wednesday for the following week.
One of Shakespeare’s best-known and most acclaimed tragedies, the show will feature Branagh in the title role, who will be joined by Mara Allen as Curan (Macbeth The Globe, The Night Watch The Original Theatre Company), Deborah Alli as Goneril (Best of Enemies West End, School Girls; or, The African Mean Girls Play Lyric Hammersmith) and Raymond Anum as Burgundy (The Merchant of Venice, The Taming of the Shrew The Globe), among others. Also directed by Branagh, the creative team includes Jon Bausor (Set and Costume Designer), Lucy Skilbeck (Associate Director), Nina Dunn (Projection Designer), Paul Keogan (Lighting Designer), Ben and Max Ringham (Sound Designer and Composer), Aletta Collins (Choreographer).
King Lear will play at London’s Wyndham’s Theatre from 21 October to 9 December. Tickets are available on the following link.
