The show will open by the end of August in a secret location in Hackney Wick. Combining interactive moments with theatrical cinema and time-pressured tasks, the montage will submerge guests into a dystopian world ruled by political oppression, where the quest for survival is the only way to flee.
We all want our dreams to come true. Well… What about your nightmares? Shhh! Don’t look back. It’s too late. There’s nothing waiting for you there… Or is it? Welcome to this new land of terror, sorrow and torture. This August, the streets of London’s Hackney Wick have been prophesied the most gruesome omen, as somewhere, hidden amidst the apparent tranquility of the neighbourhood, the most heart-wrenching madness is about to unfold. Mystery, danger and puzzling challenges all combined in this harrowing adventure dragging us into the chaos of its dystopian universe. There’s no way to escape. Or perhaps, that’s the only option…
Fans of horror and immerse theatre can start hailing Satan (just a pun…) as the countdown begins for an entirely new production to come to the city by the end of summer. Today, producers have announced the arrival of Deathcell: Magenta, an intricately themed interactive show where the fight for survival will actually become the entertainment for the evening. Set within the confined walls of an inhumane government-run institution for political prisoners, guests will undergo the most unnerving, surprising and exhilarating tasks to flee the Big Brother’s iron clutch in their quest for freedom. That is, of course, if they make the right choices…
“This show is set to leave a lasting impression, marking our most daring venture to date”, says Founder & Managing Director of R Space Productions, Steph Ricketts. “Our journey began six years ago with nothing but dedication and passion. Witnessing the team at R Space Productions dive wholeheartedly into this project fills me with immense pride, leaving myself and many excited for the future that lies ahead.”
Devised as a 60-minute performance, the montage will combine theatrical cinema with live action snippets, as well as time-pressured tests and horror elements intended to both scare and amuse. Created in collaboration with Unlocked Vision Entertainment and Indra Studios, this production has been designed with the thought of “pushing boundaries and crafting new forms of escapism with compelling storytelling”. Containing scenes of graphic violence and threat as well as strong language, the show is recommended for ages 16+ – with under-18 guests required to be accompanied by an adult.
Deathcell: Magenta will play at a secret location in London’s Hackney Wick area from 23 to 31 August. Tickets are available on the following link.
