West End concert production of ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ to be available for streaming from next month

Frank Wildhorn and Don Black’s popular musical travels to the screen through this play-on-demand recording filmed at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Directed by Nick Winston and with sets and costume design by Philip Whitcomb, the performance features Jeremy Jordan and Frances MaylI McCann in the lead parts.

It’s time to raise a little hell… But this time, it won’t be onstage. First came the West End production. Now, the touring version. And from the end of June, your chances to catch the most elusive couple in the Prohibition Era are bound to grow. Today, the producers of the hit musical Bonnie and Clyde have announced that a filmed version of the London concert montage will be available for streaming on demand. Starring Jeremy Jordan and Frances Mayli McCann in the title roles, the recording features one of the two sold-out gigs that took place at Theatre Royal Drury Lane back in 2022, joined by a company formed by some other well-known names in the London scene.

“For many, exposure to musical theatre begins at home or in school, and my hope is that worldwide audiences will bring Bonnie & Clyde into their auditoriums and living rooms”, says producer David Treatman. “We were able to capture an extraordinary performance of this beloved show in an unusually vital way. There is an electricity that courses through the performances that we were able to translate to the screen through the excellence of the artists involved at every level of the production, and an innovative approach to the taping. While nothing can replace the live experience, our film harnesses the power of cinema to capture its essence, preserving the energy of live performance while embracing the advantages of film, delivering both the danger and excitement of the stage alongside the intimacy and intention of the camera at a price that anyone can afford.”

Directed by Nick Winston and with music by Frank Wildhorn, lyrics by Don Black and book by Ivan Menchell, the piece tells the love story of the infamous criminal couple and how they went on to become the biggest folk heroes of their time – brought to life throuh a cast completed by George Maguire as Buck, Natalie McQueen as Blanche, Trevor Dion Nicholas as Preacher and Liam Tamne as Ted, among others. With set and costume design by Philip Whitcomb and lighting by Zoe Spurr, the creative credits include musical direction by Katy Richardson, assistant direction by Alexzandra Sarmiento and sound design by Tom Marshall.
