Lee Mead to star in West End solo concert next month

The one-off performance will feature a repertoire blending the songs that defined the actor‘s career as well as themes from his newest EP. Delivered as part of the Westway Sessions, the show will be the first installment in a series of recitals led by A-list performers – to take place at the same venue in the upcoming months.

Back in 2007, he proved to the world that any dream of his would do. And almost twenty years after becoming West End’s newest talk of the town, no door seems to have closed for stage and television actor Lee Mead, whose latest gamble is to take place on the very same street where his path to stardom began.

Next month, the acclaimed performer will tread the boards of London’s Vaudeville Theatre, for a one-off gig paying tribute to all the great songs that have helped him define his career. Titled The Best of Me, the concert will be the first in a series of A-list led recitals, called the Westway Sessions, for which producers have already confirmed names such as  Cassidy Janson (Monday 7 April), Kerry Ellis (Monday 21 April), and Aimie Atkinson (Monday 23 June).

“Following my recent successful sell-out tour of the UK, I’m thrilled that I’ve been approached to bring my show to the heart of the West End again”, said Lee Mead. “The last time I played London with my show was four years ago at the London Palladium. I’ve always wanted to play at the Vaudeville after performing there with a concert called The West End Men in 2013. It will suit my more intimate show perfectly, so I hope to see you all there for a great evening of music and another sell out!”.

The repertoire will encompass themes like Music of the NightFrom Now On, or Bring Him Home, as well as other classics such as FaithEnglishman In New YorkPaint It BlackFree Falling, and Walking In Memphis. In addition, audiences will also have the opportunity to enjoy several songs from Mead’s most recent EP, as well as his self-penned single, Let The River Flow, co-written with Steve Balsamo and Lee’s musical director, Adam Dennis.

Lee Mead rose to fame upon winning the national TV competition Any Dream Will Do, beating over 10,000 aspiring Josephs and playing the title role in the Adelphi Theatre’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s beloved family musical. Consecutively, he’s taken part in many other major shows, such as WickedLegally BlondeChicagoChitty Chitty Bang BangWe Will Rock You at the London Coliseum and most recently Sister Act at the Dominion Theatre.
