The show will also be extending its run at London’s Adelphi Theatre upon popular demand. Based on the iconic 80s movie, the production features new original music by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, as well as the film’s classic songs. Also starring Olly Dobson as ‘Marty McFly’, this adaptation is led by Tony Award-winning director John Rando – with A-list designers in its creative team.
Don’t need money, don’t take fame. Don’t need no credit card… Well, maybe this time you do, but that’s what it takes when the power of love for a musical is so strong. After all, we’re talking about one of the hottest West End shows of this season, and proof of evidence has been presented today! Upon a staggering demand, lead producer Colin Ingram (together with Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, the creators of the film trilogy) have just announced that Back to the Future will be extending its run to October 23rd this year.
“I’m so delighted to announce the release of our fantastic cast album today, which has been produced by its composers together with Nick Finlow in partnership with Sony Music’s Masterworks Broadway label”, says Ingram. “As we break box office records at the Adelphi Theatre and celebrate 7 Olivier nominations along with winning Best New Musical at the WhatsOnStage Awards, I look forward to announcing other productions throughout the world soon.”
But that’s not all – by far! Fans of the show will be exhilirated to know that the long awaited cast recording has been finally launched – its release coincides with the musical’s world premiere at the Manchester Opera House two years ago. Starring Roger Bart as ‘Dr Emmett Brown’ and Olly Dobson as ‘Marty McFly’, the album includes new music by multi-Grammy Award-winners Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard -alongside classic songs from the movie including The Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode. And to add a bit more icing on the cake , the production’s official music video, featuring the original tune The Dreamers, has also been posted.
Directed by Tony Award winner John Rando (Urinetown, On The Town), the show had its London debut in September 2021. The creative team is completed by well-renowned designers, including Tim Hatley (sets and costumes), Tim Lutkin (lighting), Hugh Vanstone (lighting consultant), Gareth Owen (sound) and Finn Ross (video), with choreography by Chris Bailey. The cast, on its side, features Hugh Coles as ‘George McFly’, Rosanna Hyland as ‘Lorraine Baines’, Cedric Neal as ‘Goldie Wilson’, Aidan Cutler as ‘Biff Tannen’, Courtney-Mae Briggs as ‘Jennifer Parker’, Will Haswell as ‘Dave McFly’, Emma Lloyd as ‘Linda McFly’ and Mark Oxtoby as ‘Strickland’, among others.
