Andrew Lloyd Webber’s film noir musical returns to its birth avenue for a strictly limited run – in a fully new production directed by Jamie Lloyd and starring Nicole Sherzinger and Rachel Tucker. Celebrating 30 years after its original premiere, the show has also released today a first teaser trailer featuring the montage’s lead actress.
We didn’t need words, we had faces! And today, we finally get to see who those are! As the show gets ready to open this time next month, one of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s most alluring and beloved pieces has brought in some exciting news about its revival montage, which will be playing 30 years after its original premiere right across the street. Featuring the musical’s lead actress Nicole Scherzinger in the ageless (sort to speak) role of Norma Desmond, producers have released this morning a first teaser trailer – in addition to the full list of credits regarding both the company and its creatives.
Scherzinger will be joined by Tom Francis in the other star part of Joe Gillis, as well as Grace Hodgett Young (Betty Schaefer) and David Thaxton (Max Von Mayerling). On the other hand, Rachel Tucker will be guest starring as Norma Desmond on Thursday 12 October matinee, and all Monday performances from 16 October 2023 until the end of the run. Completing the cast are Carl Au (Myron / Jones), Georgia Bradshaw (Lisa / Masseur), Hannah Yun Chamberlain (Patsy / Beautician), Tyler Davis (Sheldrake), Kamilla Fernandes (Dorothy / Astrologer), Ahmed Hamad (Artie), Laura Harrison (Catherine / Doctor), Charlotte Jaconelli (Joanna / Masseur), Olivia-Faith Kamau (Nancy / Beautician) and Luke Latchman (John / Guard), among others.
Directed by Jamie Lloyd, who will be also producing in collaboration with the Ambassadors Theatre Group, the show features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. On its side, the creative credits also include Soutra Gilmour (Set and Costume Designer), Fabian Aloise (Choreographer), Alan Williams (Music Supervisor and Musical Director), Jack Knowles (Lighting Designer), Adam Fisher (Sound Designer) and Nathan Amzi and Joe Ransom (Video Design and Cinematography).
Sunset Boulevard will run for a strictly limited 16 weeks at the Savoy Theatre from Thursday 21 September 2023 to Saturday 6 January 2024. Tickets are available on the following link.
